Due to Guardian Minister Nitesh Rane’s Efforts, Rs 86 Crore Mango-Cashew Insurance Payout Credited to Farmers’ Accounts

Kankavli:

Mango and cashew growers in Sindhudurg district have received major financial relief as *Rs 86 crore in crop insurance compensation* has started being credited to the accounts of *35,000 farmers* under the 2025-26 Mango and Cashew Fruit Crop Insurance Scheme.

Speaking at a press conference held at *MP Narayan Rane’s contact office in Kankavli*, *Former District Bank Chairman Satish Sawant* said this was made possible due to the consistent follow-up by *Guardian Minister for Fisheries and Ports Development, Nitesh Rane*, along with *MP Narayan Rane*.

“On behalf of the farmers of Sindhudurg, we express our gratitude to both leaders for pursuing the matter with the state and central governments and securing the compensation,” *Sawant* said.

*Insurance paid in July itself*

Usually, insurance payouts are received in September, October or November. However, this year the amount has been credited in *July itself*. Credit for this goes to Guardian Minister *Nitesh Rane*, Sawant added.

Sawant further stated that farmers who paid the insurance premium between *1st November and 30th November 2025* have been approved for compensation based on adverse weather between *1st December 2025 and 15th May 2026*.

Earlier, farmers had to wait for months. This year, in May, *Guardian Minister Nitesh Rane* held a meeting with insurance company officials at the Sindhudurg Collector’s office and directed that payouts to all eligible farmers be completed by end of July. Due to his regular review, the process was completed on time.

*Rs 75,000 to Rs 95,000 per hectare*

This year, eligible farmers in several circles are receiving insurance compensation of approximately *Rs 75,000 to Rs 95,000 per hectare*. This has provided significant financial support to mango and cashew growers. As soon as the fruit crop insurance distribution began in the state, *Sindhudurg became the first district* to start disbursing payments, which was possible only due to Minister Nitesh Rane, Sawant said.

However, cashew farmers in some circles have not yet received compensation due to faulty weather stations. Sawant said the matter will be taken up again with Guardian Minister Nitesh Rane and a joint meeting of the insurance company, administration and affected farmers will be requested. Funds have also been made available through the District Planning Committee to set up more weather stations in the district to avoid such technical issues in the future.

*Appeal for e-crop survey*

Appealing to farmers, Sawant said the *e-crop survey for mango, cashew and paddy* started from *15th July*. All farmers should complete it before *31st July*. Completing the e-crop survey will make it easier to avail crop insurance and other government schemes. Last year, many paddy farmers missed out on benefits due to not completing the survey, he reminded.

Farmers facing any issues regarding insurance amount or other matters can contact *Guardian Minister Nitesh Rane’s contact office in Kankavli*, Sawant said, while thanking the Central and State Governments, MP Narayan Rane and Guardian Minister Nitesh Rane for their efforts for farmers’ welfare.
